Busy Spring Days and Lazy Spring Nights . . .

The garden has been dug and the seeds have been started.  Son number one and his beautiful girlfriend came up with this seed chart which I thought was a great idea.  I just hope there's enough room in the garden for all of these different plants!!  : )

We've discovered just how small Megan's bike AND her skirts are this year.  We haven't gone warm weather clothes shopping yet but she did get a pretty new bike after I took this photo.  Thank you Mimi and Grandpop in Florida!!!  XOXOXOXOXO

This boy is busy being lazy.  : )

Spending time with family.

My beautiful sister in law Michele, my middle son Trevor, handsome nephews Andre and Jason and Megan.

Finnegan is busy being lazy too.  He's been hanging out on the boat since we moved it to our driveway from my sister's house.

Stretching before he comes to pose for me.

I just love this baby!!

A lazy spring night spent under the tent.  It was the first night that it was warm enough to be outside without a jacket.

We were able to view the beautiful "pink" moon.  It wasn't pink but beautiful nonetheless.

That bright dot to the right of the tree is Pluto.  Such a beautiful sight!!

Nephew Jason thru the dining room window.  He was being lit up by his tablet and I thought it would make a cool photo.  : )

Even though my daughter looks like a zombie in this photo, I love it.  Jakhai's smile is priceless!!!

I'll be grocery shopping later today for Easter Sunday.  Tomorrow we have an Easter egg hunt in town at 10 am that I'll be taking Megan to.  Jakhai has decided to go home before Easter this year so I'll be driving into Manhattan tomorrow as well.  It's supposed to be a nice day so I don't mind the trip.  Jim is working all weekend which stinks, but we do what we have to do and count our blessings while doing it.  : )

Happy Friday!! ~ Wendy xo

Some Saturday Randomness . . .

Sunset thru the trees.

Two turkey vultures in our backyard.

If you look closely you can see how his beak turns downward at the tip.  Very vulture-like!!  : )

Megan up a tree.

Definitely not shy in front of the camera!!  : )

I can't wait for that wiggly front tooth to come out!!!!!!

Lots of cold and grey days here lately.

The kids are off from school for the next week due to spring/Easter break.  Jim has a few days off as well.  Megan had a sleepover here last night with her best little girlfriend from where we used to live.  In a few hours we leave for Manhattan to pick up our "adopted" son Jakhai.  We haven't seen him since Christmas break and are really missing him!!  If you don't already know, we met Jakhai and his family seven years ago thru the Fresh Air Fund which is an organization that matches up inner-city kids with us country folk (haha!!) to get them out of the city for a week in the summer.  We fell in love with him and his parents and the rest of his family and have him stay with us during most long school breaks and for most of the summer.  Brendan and Jakhai call each other "brothers from other mothers."  I have to go thru my photos and post some of how much the boys have grown since they first met each other.  It's really incredible how God works sometimes.  We can't imagine our lives without Jay and his family in them!!

Megan and Cybele yesterday.  They've been friends since they were two.

Brendan and Jakhai in 2013.  These photos make me smile for so many different reasons!!!  : )

Tonight we're going to visit friends that we haven't seen in way too long.  Their son is turning 21 and they're having a party for him.  We're really looking forward to seeing them.  And finally, tomorrow I take my last photography class.  Outdoor photography is the topic so it should be lots of fun.  Any special plans going on for you this weekend?  xo

A Busy Day . . .

After a day of being stuck inside due to pouring rain and wind, we were happy to jump into the car and take a road trip to my Mom's little cottage in the woods to help her celebrate her birthday.  It was a chilly but gorgeous day, filled with lots of sunshine and blue skies!!

The kids are off from school for spring break this week and our "adopted" son, Jakhai (our Fresh Air Fund child who has been a part of our lives for almost 4 years now!!!  So hard to believe!!!) is staying with us for the week.  Brendan and Jakhai are joined at the hip when they're together.  It truly is a beautiful thing to see.

The Universe works in the most incredible of ways and it certainly worked its' magic the day our family was introduced to Jakhai's family.  Amazing Grace at its' finest!!!  : )

Many blessings for a Thursday filled with Amazing Grace ~ Wendy

A Day at the Beach . . .

This was our last week with Jakhai (our "adopted" son that we have been so incredibly blessed to have met thru the Fresh Air Fund).  He has been with us for almost the entire month of July.  Due to work schedules and cutting back on spending, this is our summer of "staycations" and mini trips.

Jakhai and Brendan.

At the top of their list of "things to do" while Jakhai was here was a day at the beach.  So we added another friend to the mix, loaded up the car and headed off to Point Pleasant, NJ.

Brendan and our neighbor, Julian.
This was my first time going to Point Pleasant.  It's only an hour and a half away from where we live in New York.  A straight shot up the Garden State Parkway.  You do have to pay to get on the beach but, other then gas, if you pack your own food and drinks it's a very inexpensive way to spend a  perfect day.  : )

Just a wee bit tacky, don't ya think??
Megan thinks so!!!  : )
Meg was not very thrilled with the water.  I think the waves scared her.  Jim was trying to talk her into putting her feet in but, as you can tell by the look on her face, she wanted nothing to do with that!!

However, she loved the sand and even took some time to do some beach yoga!!

Daddy brushing sand out of her eyes.

I fell in love with this beach umbrella!!!!!!!!

You can't blog about the beach without including a photo of a seagull now, can you??  This guy stood in front of me for almost an hour.  I swear he just wanted me to take his picture because as soon as I did he flew away!!  LOL!!

After the beach we headed back into town to find a place to eat dinner and found Spike's Restaurant. It was a great little place for inexpensive seafood and sandy feet.

After dinner, we wandered outside and found the most beautiful inlet filled with light from the sunset.  This kind of light is so perfect for taking photos.

A drawbridge in the "up" position.

I was finally able to take some photos of the boys all together.

And a very happy little girl, too!!

A perfect ending to a perfect day!!!

Many blessings for a happy Saturday ~ Wendy
