A Visit to Jones' Farm . . .

On Friday, Jim was off from work so we drove to our favorite local farm for some lunch and to pick up some Irish Soda Bread for Friday night's feast.  Jone's Farm is in Cornwall and is the best little place to visit for an hour or two.  They now have their cafe opened.  Not many food choices but what they offer is so good that you don't need a lot of choices.

Outdoor patio covered in snow.

These were our views from our table . . .

Some of last year's sunflowers.

It wasn't just about winter.  There were some signs of spring as well!!

Jim ordered the fish tacos while I opted for the marinated eggplant, red roasted peppers and fresh mozzarella with pesto on a toasted brioche bun.  Absolutely delicious!!

After lunch, we ordered our bread and some cookies and I took a few photos while waiting for everything to be boxed up.

They have a wonderful gift shop upstairs but we didn't visit it this time around.  Instead we stopped to take a few more photos of the barnyard crew.

There was so much snow piled up in front of the barnyard fence that I couldn't get close enough to feed or pet any of the animals.  Otherwise, I'm the first to put my hand in to pet them.  : )

Catching some rays!!

This beauty came over to the car looking for food.  Jim was not going to give up any of the Irish Soda Bread!!  : )

Here's to a very happy Monday and a very happy first day of spring!!  xo

So pretty!!!!

Looking so little in front of the sunflowers!!

A true sign of fall!!!
A goat with icy blue eyes!!  Kinda scary!!!
Table linens.
Perfect for our new front door!!
"Autumnal" linens.  I'm so happy I get to use that word again!!!  : )
Halloween earrings that Megan fell in love with except she won't let me take her diamond heart earrings from her Mimi out so I guess she'll just have to admire them from afar.  : )
She's not as innocent as she looks!!!!  : )
Needs no explanation.  : )

In the parking lot.
In the rear view mirror.  : )
Sunflowers that are starting to look a little bit tired.  : (
I've yet to see a cat when we visit there!!!  : )

Thanks for joining us on our visit to Jone's Farm.  When I told Megan we'll be able to go there whenever she wants to once we move she literally jumped for joy!!!

Happy Tuesday!!! ~ Wendy

A Day in Cornwall . . .

On Tuesday, we ventured to Cornwall, NY to visit my mother for the afternoon.  It wasn't the best day weather wise but we still had lots of fun.

Upon arrival, we were greeted at the gate by Chloe and Seamus.  Chloe is my mom's New Foundland.  She is the most gentle and beautiful soul you'll ever meet.  When she looks at you she looks deep into your eyes like she's studying you.  When she was a baby, she looked just like a baby gorilla and had hair on her head that stood straight up.  I couldn't look at her without laughing.  It was my mother's dream to have a "Newfy" and she couldn't have been blessed with a more beautiful girl than Chloe.

At the other end of the spectrum, you have Seamus.  Seamus is a Highland Terrier ball of energy that my mother adopted from our local shelter last year after she had to have her beloved Yellow Lab put to sleep.  He is almost seven and adores my mother and Chloe but also wears the pants in the relationship and doesn't have a clue that he's a quarter of the size of his big sister.  Actually, about one tenth of the size!!   LOL!!

Not much of a surprise that he's already spoiled rotten!!  : )

After lunch, we went to one of our favorite places in Cornwall called Jones' Farm.  It's a tradition for all the grandchildren to go there when they visit Nana.

When you arrive, you're greeted by miniature ponies, chickens, ducks, goats and, if you're lucky, you catch a glimpse of the pig in residence.  The weather wasn't so great when we were there so I guess the pig decided it wasn't worth the effort to come out of the barn.  Oh well.  Maybe next time.

Jones' Farm has the most wonderful pies and cookies and muffins and the BEST carrot cake you've EVER tasted!!!  We went home with a bag full of cookies and two loaves of Irish Soda Bread.  Grandma Doris, the Matriarch of Jones' Farm, used to only make it around St. Patrick's Day but, due to its overwhelming popularity, now makes it year 'round.  Nothing like a piece of soda bread and a cup of coffee for breakfast!!  Or anytime for that matter!!  : )

"I'll have one of these, please!!"

And if animals and food wasn't enough to make you want to visit, certainly the gift shop will clinch it!!  I don't think I ever leave without buying something!!  This year, it was green glass candle holders for my St. Patrick's Day table.  Didn't get a photo of them but will once my table looks pretty.

After one final goodbye to the animals, we headed back to my Mom's to drop her off before we ventured back home.  It was such a wonderful day and we're looking forward to returning to see the animals again in the spring.  I guess that's just around the corner, isn't it??  Works for me!!  : )

Many blessings for a happy Thursday ~ Wendy
