Last winter, I noticed a pretty little white cat that would always run up and down the school path that runs along side our house. She was always in a hurry. She was very skittish and wouldn't let you go near her. It didn't take long for me to realize that she was a stray. She was dirty and skinny and was outside in all kinds of weather. I began to put food out for her and she would inhale it in seconds flat. Soon, my neighbor started to feed her, too. I would eventually come to find out that she was eating at lots of different houses around the neighborhood. She had some racket going, that's for sure!!
A couple of months after we started feeding her I looked out my front window to see son #3 rubbing her belly as she rolled around on the driveway. He was the first person that she would let go near her. She has since become one of the friendliest cats in town!!
At the beginning of the summer we all noticed that she was getting chubby and thought it was due to the entire neighborhood leaving her plates of food. It ended up that she was pregnant. My neighbor and I took care of the kittens and found homes for all of them.
These two babies both got a wonderful new home and got to stay together. I was thrilled!!

This was Kitty as I drove her to be spayed today. The top picture was also taken today. I took the picture thru a hole in the box. I think this was the first time she was ever enclosed like this. She was nervous but did very well.
I found out about a mobile spay and neuter clinic that sits in front of Wal-Mart in the county up from us. I brought her there at 9:30 this morning. For $70.00 she will be spayed, given a rabies and distemper shot and have her ears cleaned and her nails trimmed. Not too shabby. The two women that arrived before me were from rescue organizations. One brought 20 cats to be spayed and the other brought 16. How wonderful are these women for doing something like that?!!? How wonderful is that veterinarian and his assistant for providing these services at minimal cost? Do you know that a "regular" veterinarian wants $300 - $400.00 to spay a cat? Unfortunately, those 37 cats between the three of us is not even a drop in the bucket.
These organizations all rely on donations and every little bit helps. There was a sign that said towels and laundry detergent were a much needed donation item as each cat goes home wrapped in a towel. While in Wal-Mart, I picked up some towels for $1.50 a piece and two bottles of detergent for $2.99 each. Like I said, every little bit helps. And, honestly, it makes me feel so good when I know I am helping out such a wonderful organization.
It really is a difficult thing to be an animal lover but if we all just do a little bit to help out an animal in need it really makes a tremendous difference. I'll let you know how Kitty did with her surgery later. : )

***An Update on Kitty***
She's doing very well and is resting comfortably. We are treating her like the Princess she is!! : )
These babies were so sweet. I caught them in mid-meow so the two white ones look kinda fierce in the photo. LOL!! 
If I didn't think my husband would take me to divorce court for bringing another animal into this house, I would've taken this guy in a heartbeat!! His name is Mr. Big and he was an absolute sweetie pie!! He was right next to the front desk in the lobby so while I was bent over writing a check he kept putting his paw on my butt. Thankfully, he's declawed!! : ) He's been at the shelter for about a month and the volunteers all adore him. He's treated like a king so please don't worry about him. I NEVER could handle this at all if I had any doubt that these babies were all okay!!!!!!
