Photo-a-day Challenge . . .

I'm currently in my third month of being a part of  Fatmumslim 's photo a day challenge and am still loving it!!  I have to admit that I haven't been posting every single day but I quickly catch up which is, unfortunately, not something that I normally do.  I am the epitome of a procrastinator and have self-diagnosed A.D.D. and that is not a good combination.  : )  However, if I enjoy what I'm doing, that helps immensely.

I thought I'd share some of my favorite photos of the challenges so far . . .

this morning . . .

I drove around our local state park this morning in search of a heart ~ today's prompt for my "photo a day" challenge.  The new prompts for the month of August have just been posted and I'm pretty excited about them!!  I'm not very good at sticking with routines but I've been having so much fun every day with this challenge that it hasn't even crossed my mind NOT to do each day's challenge.  : )  So back to my looking for a heart story . . .

I was planning to drive to the beautiful little cemetery that is located inside the park to take a photo of one of the headstones that has a heart on it.  I love to take photos in cemeteries probably more than almost any place else.  Don't know why.  I just do.  As I got closer, I noticed a funeral procession making the turn into the cemetery so I knew it was not to be.  I said a prayer and kept driving.

Not far past the cemetery is a pond that is separate from the large lake in the park.  Today it was covered with so much algae.  A definite feast for the wildlife that lives in and around it but I honestly didn't know how these little babies were even able to swim thru it.

It was thick as pea soup!!  They didn't seem to mind though!!

A turtle on a log.

Geese flying overhead.

Somebody lost their shoe.  : (

I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to capture the cemetery photo.  However, I am a very strong believer in things happening for a reason.  When I got home, I took out my Spirit Guide deck of cards and pulled my morning ritual of three.  Wouldn't you know it . . .  two out of the three cards had hearts on them.  : )

Many blessings for a Wednesday filled with love ~ Wendy

Pass the Antibiotics Please!! . . .

I've been feeling pretty crummy for the last couple of days.  Coughing, aches and pains, low grade fever, sore throat.  I thought for sure I had acquired my husband's strep throat but the doctor said it's just bronchitis.  He wrote a prescription for a z-pack and I was on my merry way.  I always wait a little bit longer than I probably should to run to the doctor.  I believe our bodies have immune systems for a reason and we need to rely on them a lot more than so many people do.  I think the reason antibiotics work so quickly for me is because I haven't built up much of a resistance to them.  Neither have my kids for that matter.  And, thankfully, they're not sick very often either.  : )

The union members of the company that my husband works for have been on strike for a little over a week now with no end in sight.  He works for Con Ed in Manhattan and is part of management.  He's been remanded to work 7 nights a week.  This means he works all night and sleeps all day.  We do get to see him a little bit in the morning when he comes home and a little bit when he wakes up.  I can feel myself getting back into "single mom mode" a little more each day that the strike goes on.  Other then not feeling well and starting to miss my husband sleeping next to me at night things are going well.  It looks like this strike may carry on thru the summer so we're digging our heels in and taking it one day at a time.  The "7 nights a week" schedule isn't going to last forever and God knows we could use the extra money to finish up all of the unfinished projects around the house.  Yes, indeed!!  : )
