Mothers' Day Moments . . .

Yesterday was such a beautiful day here in New York and so perfect for sitting outside to celebrate Mothers' Day with a picnic in our back yard.

 Cousins played ball together and caught up since they saw each other last.

My niece, Annie, asked me to take a photo of her in mid-air.  She cracks me up!!  : )

 A little girl was mugged on by her Nana (my mother) and wishing her Mimi and Gram were sharing the day with her, too.

 There were dandelion blowing contests . . .

 and even some "fishing" going on in the soon-to-be-ready-for-the-warm-weather sandbox!!

 There was a nephew of mine who loves to try to elude my lens but didn't do such a good job yesterday so I was able to get some photos of his gorgeous face.  Ha Ha, Andre!!!!  : )   XOXOXOXO

 You can run but you can't hide!!

 And then there was a little girl named Miss Meggie who gave her Mommy an attitude face when told not to do something . . .

 but quickly changed her tune when it was time for dessert!!

There's a new Sheriff in town!!

 A beautiful day filled with love and laughter, great food and company.  And even some special gifts.

Springtime Through My Lens . . .

What a beautiful spring it's been so far here in New York!!  The temperature has been a little on the cool side and there's been minimal rain the last couple of weeks.  Even without a whole lot of "April showers" there is an abundance of "May flowers" and the air is filled with their sweet fragrance.  Today, I cut some lilacs off of our tree in the side yard and my whole house smells like them.  We also started to map out where our new vegetable garden is going to go and tomorrow my oldest son is supposed to finally put the till he borrowed from his grandfather to use.  We are a family of procrastinators but I think this has actually worked a bit in our favor this spring.  The temperature was down into the 30's the other night and several people that we know lost some of their plants to frostbite.  In our part of New York (20 miles north of Manhattan) the safest bet for no more frost is said to be after Mother's Day so as far as I'm concerned, we're right on time!!  : )

Our Trip to Mount Washington . . .

This summer, we visited New Hampshire and took a ride up to the top of Mount Washington.  I've been meaning to share some of our photos but knew it would take me a while to sort and edit them.  Miss Megan is still asleep this morning so I thought I'd give it a go.  : )   Please click on the photos to view them in larger form!!

It was an absolutely beautiful day!!  The temperature at the top of the mountain was around 37 degrees fahrenheit and winds were sustained at about 40 mph. 

As you got closer to the top, you were eye level with the clouds.  I'm hoping you can click onto the photos to make them bigger. 

This was a trolly car near the top that people could take if they didn't want to drive.  I don't consider myself to be afraid of heights but I have to admit that I had some anxiety as we went higher and higher.  My husband was driving so that I could take pictures.

These are the steps that lead from the parking lot to the peak.  At this point, the wind is pretty strong and walking up these stairs isn't the easiest thing to do.  : )

The Tip-Top House is a lodge that was once used for workers that stayed at the top.  It's no longer used but is still set up the way it once was.  The road to the top shuts down some time around the middle or end of October, depending on the weather conditions.

This was one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen!!

At the summit, there's a building where you can go in and have something warm to eat and drink.  There's even a post office located inside. 

This was taken at the highest point of the mountain.  Left to right are my nephew Tristan, Jakhai (our "adopted" Fresh Air Fund son), Jim holding Megan, and my sons Brendan and Trevor.  I laugh every time I look at this photo due to the "tough guy" looks my sons tried to give for the camera.  LOL!!

This is a gift shop that is actually chained down due to the potential for very large wind gusts.

Indeed, it did!!!!  : )

It was such a wonderful trip and I highly recommend it if you travel to New Hampshire!!
