Halloween Catch Up . . .

This past week has been a busy one around here.  Halloween came and went and already seems like a distant memory.  It's my favorite holiday.  I love to see the kids in their costumes, especially the homemade ones.  I love the sound of the leaves as you drag your feet thru them.  I love to see the spooky touches and jack-o-lanterns added to front porches.

Megan and friends gathering for pizza before trick-or-treating.

This year, we trick-or-treated in Upper Nyack.  It's the town that I grew up in.  It's so bittersweet to me.  Very few of the same families live there at this point.  They've either passed on or moved away due to the high cost of living in an area so close to Manhattan.  There was a huge in-flux of  people that moved to Rockland County in the '90s.  This is really a great place to raise children and only 20 miles from Manhattan so it's perfect for people that have to commute into the city.  It also makes me a little sad when I remember how it was being raised in a small town where you knew everybody.  Simple people (I mean that in the nicest of ways) living simple lives.  I had a wonderful childhood and, thankfully, I'll always have those memories.  : )

Creepy!!!!!!
My fairy princess.

One of my favorite houses.

My hope for my children is that they, too, have lots of happy memories as they get older and look back.  The gift of a happy childhood truly is one of the most precious gifts you can give to them.  : )

Many blessings for a wonderful weekend ~ Wendy

Awwww, that's so beautiful. Like you, I grew up in a small town and I miss that so much. Halloween was always my favorite holiday too....and growing up in small town America made it feel so safe and friendly. I'm glad you are making those kind of memories for your kids. xx
