A Weekend Getaway . . .

My honey and I spent this past weekend away in the Poconos in Pennsylvania.  When I tell you it was much needed, it was MUCH NEEDED.  No kids.  No pets.  No interrupted conversations.  No one crawling in bed between us at 2 am.  We stayed at the Cove Haven which is a "couples only" resort on a beautiful lake.  It is barely two hours away from our house which is perfect in my book.  We had the best time!!!

I think you get the picture.  : )
Jim had two vases of flowers waiting for me in the room.  One was full of wildflowers and the other had daisies which are my two favorite kinds of flowers.  We had chocolate covered strawberries, a heart-shaped jacuzzi, a sauna for two and a pool in our room.  Other then the pool, I think my favorite part of the room was the ceiling above the bed.  When the lights were out, it was filled with tons of little twinkling lights that looked like stars.  I told Jim I felt like we were trapped in I Dream of Jeannie's bottle when we were laying in bed.  : )

Above is a photo of the van you called if you didn't feel like taking your car or walking to the different events that were going on throughout the weekend.  I laughed my ass off when I saw this.  Sooo cheesy which made it sooo wonderful!!!!!

A little more cheesiness for your enjoyment!!  . . .

On Friday night, we had a delicious dinner and then went across the street to "Spooners" where they had a bar and a DJ.  We also discovered something new about each other.  We both love to play pool!!! We had a blast and had a table all to our ourselves until after midnight.

The next day, Jim surprised me with side by side massages at their spa.  It was wonderful and much needed.  When we went to Turks and Caicos for our honeymoon, we had side by side massages on the beach scheduled but had to cancel because we both got really bad sunburn the day before.  It wasn't the same as being on a beach but it was so relaxing.  Don't tell Jim I told you this but I even heard him snore a couple of times.  : )

We had gorgeous weather and took a hike on a nature trail that was on the property.  I took a bunch of photos that I'll share next time.

I just have to say that I am so very blessed to have such an amazing man in my life.  He's not perfect.  I'm not perfect.  We're not perfect.  We have our arguments, God knows.  Moving has been a big adjustment for everybody and there are days when stress levels are high.  There are so many different personalities living under one roof.  So many dogs and cats living under one roof.  So many different age groups living under one roof.   I think it's so important for couples to not lose sight of why they fell in love in the first place.  Jim is kind and caring and funny and smart.  He's an amazing dad and a wonderful husband.  I tell him he's my "friend with benefits."  Haha!!  Not too shabby for almost ten years of being together!!  : )

Happy Wednesday to you ~ Wendy

Sounds like a lovely weekend. It is so nice to be able to get away and make time for each other. We have been married 35 years this year and we still have a date night each month. Thoughtful husband ordering your favourite flowers and yes even knowing them. Take care.

Well, sweetie, out of the "imperfection" came two people who are perfect for each other....and that's what counts! You've got one great guy and he knows he has an awesome woman.
And that's perfect.
xx

I have always wanted to stay in a place with a heart shaped bed and a champagne glass tub! I remember seeing so many commercials for Mount Airey Lodge when I was growing up and that champagne glass tub was a prominent part of it! Glad to know that the cheesiness lives on in the Poconos all these years later!

So glad that you two were able to get away! What a lovely treat! xo
