Hi Ho, Hi Ho . . .

Last weekend, we loaded up our lawn mower and weed wacker and headed north to tackle my mother's yard.  She lives on 40 plus acres of land but the woman that she rents her little house from told her she's only responsible for maintaining the grass in the immediate area around her house.  THANKFULLY!!  : )

This is what the grass looked like before it was cut.  About two feet tall and filled with lots of buttercups.  So pretty but a definite magnet for snakes and my mother had already seen one outside of her back door.

My nephew Tristan and my son Trevor.

Jim mowed while these two helped with raking and weed wacking and dragging the cut grass away.  They really did a great job but, as the saying goes, "all work and no play . . ."  No danger of that with them!!  : )

They also moved and restacked the leftover firewood from next to the house to avoid my mother or her two dogs being confronted with a snake when she takes them out her back door.  Thankfully, there was only one snake to be seen all day and that was on the far side of the house where nobody spends much time.

As a side note, I have to share a quick story . . .

My husband is seriously afraid of snakes.  While he and my mother and I were sitting at her dining room table discussing the recent snake sightings, one of my mother's dogs decided to lick Jim on his leg from under the table.  He almost jumped out of his seat!!  When he told us what had happened, my mother and I laughed until we almost cried!!!

The culprit, Seamus!!  : )

Megan was a busy girl, too.  She made a pound cake with her Nana and then wanted to help the boys outside so we gave her the task of sweeping the back patio while the cake was in the oven.

Some buttercups that I picked before they were mowed.
A gorgeous day to be outside!!!
Tristan taking a photo of me taking a photo of him.  : )

Reading her new book that Nana gave her for all of her hard work.

It was a beautiful day with minimal snakes and maximum fun.  Oh, and the pound cake with homemade whipped cream and strawberries wasn't too shabby either!!  : )

Celebrating . . .

This weekend we celebrated Megan's birthday with lots of friends in our backyard.  It was such a beautiful day with no humidity and bright blue skies!!

Meg wanted pink and purple cupcakes.  She also wanted chocolate and since it's hard to change brown into pink or purple we compromised and gave her pink and purple sprinkles instead.  : )

Our "adopted" son Jakhai and his family came from Manhattan for the day.  The above photo is Jakhai and his nephew Noel after having a water fight.  : )

Jakhai's sister, Gianna and Noel.
Jakhai's other sister, Gio and her gorgeous son, NaShaun (Noel's little brother).
Jakhai's beautiful Mama and my Sistafriend, Hope.  It's so hard to believe she's a Grandma or, as she calls herself, a "Glamma."  Perfect!!!  : )

Meg's friend, Isa, waiting for the cupcakes.
Isa's baby brother, Rohan.  His eyes are gorgeous!!  It looks like they're going to be green like his Mama's!!
The youngest attendee at Megan's party was Miss Chelsea.  She just turned two weeks old.  So adorable!!!
Daddy fixing Meggie's helmet so she could ride her new bike.
My beautiful nephew Andre who doesn't normally like me to take his picture but let me this time.  : )
Mr. Bigglesworth.
Jim was able to open the pool and some of the bigger kids actually swam in it even though the water was very cold and the temperature wasn't very hot.  The girls were smart and decided to just put their feet in.

A very special thank you to Mimi and Grandpop in Florida and Gram and Pop in Tennessee for the beautiful new bouncy castle they gave Megan for her birthday to replace the one that popped last year.  Megan and her friends LOVED bouncing in it the entire day!!!!  XOXOXO

New friendships were made and lots of fun was had.  All in all, I'd say it was a perfect day!!  Couldn't ask for more than that!!  : )

Many blessings for a very happy Thursday ~ Wendy

A Busy Day . . .

After a day of being stuck inside due to pouring rain and wind, we were happy to jump into the car and take a road trip to my Mom's little cottage in the woods to help her celebrate her birthday.  It was a chilly but gorgeous day, filled with lots of sunshine and blue skies!!

The kids are off from school for spring break this week and our "adopted" son, Jakhai (our Fresh Air Fund child who has been a part of our lives for almost 4 years now!!!  So hard to believe!!!) is staying with us for the week.  Brendan and Jakhai are joined at the hip when they're together.  It truly is a beautiful thing to see.

The Universe works in the most incredible of ways and it certainly worked its' magic the day our family was introduced to Jakhai's family.  Amazing Grace at its' finest!!!  : )

And We're Back On Again!! . . .

The heat is on again.  As are the coats.  The house was 59 degrees this morning.  We woke to a dusting of snow and 30 degree temperatures.

My neighbor's roof.

The beloved sandbox has been covered once again.  : (

I think Buddha's struggling to find his center, at this point.  : )

I think I even saw my daffodils shivering a little bit.  : )
Oh well.  This is how spring in New York goes sometimes.  We'll be complaining about hazy, hot and humid in no time.  That's pretty much a guarantee!!!

Many blessings for a beautiful Wednesday ~ Wendy

The cover to the beloved sandbox is off . . .

The shoes are off . . .

I just couldn't resist!!!  : )

. . .  and all is right in this soon-to-be-four year old's world!!
