Thank You . . .

To those who have courageously given their lives and to those who bravely fight today, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your bravery and your sacrifice.  I am proud to say that my father was a veteran of the United States Army and my husband is a veteran of the United States Navy.

My dad and Trevor.

Me and my honey at the beach.
True heroes in my eyes.

Many blessings for a happy and safe rest of your weekend ~ Wendy

These Moments (of two years ago) . . .

Since I haven't taken many photos in the last couple of days, I thought it would be fun to look back on the photos I took on this day two years ago.  We were still in our old house and celebrating Memorial Day and Megan's 4th birthday.  The kids look so little in these photos.  Brendan has more hair now.  Trevor and Megan have less hair now.

My gorgeous nephews are much taller and, if possible, even more gorgeous!!!!

My nephew Andre.

My nephew Jason.

My "fourth son" Jakhai is about a foot taller and basically a man.  : )

Megan's thighs have thinned out a bit but I still want to bite them every chance I get!!!!!

Her big gift for turning "4" !!

When I look back on photos like these, they remind me of how quickly the time passes.  They remind me of moments that I may have otherwise forgotten about.  They remind me of just how precious life is.

I wish you all a very happy and safe Memorial Day if you live here in the states.  It's low key for us this year.  Jim is working all weekend and we'll be sticking close to home.  Our pool is almost ready to be jumped into.  It's been teasing us from the backyard since we moved in in November.  I think I'll fire up the grill more than once or twice in the next few days.  There's also a little Memorial Day parade in town on Monday that I think we'll attend.  We're very blessed to live in such a patriotic town.  We are just a few miles away from West Point, NY and lots of members of our community are either active military or retired military personnel.  I'm proud to say my honey is a Navy vet.  : )

Have a beautiful and safe weekend ~ Wendy

Happy 4th . . .

Fourth of July festivities started early around these parts with fireworks on Wednesday night.  We grabbed our Carvel ice cream sundaes, backed into parking spots in the lot, threw open the back doors, layed down the blankets and waited for the show to begin!!  It was the perfect night with the weather in the low 80's and low humidity.

Megan loved the smiley face!!!

Brendan and his friend Malcolm waiting for the show to start.

Yesterday we spent the afternoon with friends for a backyard barbecue and today we're taking a drive up to Cornwall-on-Hudson to my sister's for a gathering and a small town U.S.A. parade.  I love celebrating this beautiful country that we live in.  It is not perfect and not everybody will always be happy with the way things are here but we are so blessed to have the freedoms that we do and it saddens me that people are choosing to bash our country and our flag.  After September 11th, sales of our flag skyrocketed and a flag flew in front of almost every home in our town.  Now you see people burning and stomping on the flag around the country.  This is a slap in the face of every veteran I know including my father, my husband, my grandfathers, great grandfathers, uncles, cousins, friends, etc., etc., etc.  I truly could cry about this and I do.

Beautiful faces at yesterday's barbecue!!!

May God bless America and all of its' people here and abroad and may our beautiful men and women of our Armed Forces be blessed as they serve to protect us from all who want to harm us.  I wish you all a very happy and safe 4th of July!!!

Many blessings ~ Wendy

Onward and Upward . . .

Miss Megan graduated from her morning pre-school program this week.  Hurray!!!  It was such a wonderful celebration filled with singing, recitation of the Declaration of Independence (no small feat for four and five year olds to memorize!!), God Bless America and a song about some sort of trouble in Paradise after Adam ate the forbidden apple.  Although I'm not a big fan of organized religion, I am so very happy that we decided to enroll her in a Catholic pre-school.  She has flourished and is more then ready for kindergarten in the fall!!!

Waiting to take her graduation walk!!

The theme for graduation was "For God and Country."  I have to admit I cried as the kids sang their montage of patriotic songs.  I love this country of ours and have felt so sad as I've seen people desecrate our flag these last months.  I'll save my thoughts on that for another blog post though.  : )

Singing "God Bless America."  Yes, I cried.  : )

I had to get this photo of her sitting like such a lady.  Usually it's legs wide open without a care in the world!!  LOL!!

Receiving her diploma!!!

Moving her tassel to the other side.

After having to sit up straight and in one place for so long, Megan and her bestie Meghan with an "h" (yes, that's what we call her!!) couldn't wait to celebrate with each other.  These two are two peas in a pod as you can tell by these photos.

The absolute BEST!!!!!

Megan and her teachers.
On Wednesday she graduates from her afternoon class which was thru the Universal Pre-K program held at St. Paul's.  Same building but a different curriculum and different teachers.

On the home front, we're still plugging along with getting the house on the market.  We started to get too much anxiety over getting it listed by June 1st.  I know it will all work out in the end and we'll eventually sit back in our new home, heave a sigh of relief  and wonder why we ever stressed over it all to begin with.  From my mouth to God's ears!!  : )

Have a beautiful weekend ~ Wendy

Happy 5th of July . . .

I hope everyone had a happy and safe July 4th.  My hubby had to work, my oldest son was at an all day picnic with his cronies, my youngest son has been at my sister's house since Saturday and my middle guy was in an out all day with his friends swimming and eating and eating and swimming.  I guess that's what 15/16 year olds do best in the summer because they did a great job finishing off an entire two dozen chocolate chip cookies that I baked.  Megan and I each got one and I salvaged one for Jim but that was about it.

This was pretty much the extent of our fireworks viewing this year.  Jim has strep throat and was feeling pretty crummy after working twelve hours so he came home and put his jammies on.  Trevor and his friends put on a display of bottle rockets, roman candles and bottle rockets for us in front of the house.

Our neighbor Chris got in on the action, too.  I know this looks like he's on fire but I assure you he's not!!  : )  I just happened to take the photo just as his bottle rocket was taking off.  Pretty cool stuff.  For the record, I'm scared of fireworks but there were adults around to make sure everything was done as safely as possible.  Not to mention, it only lasted for about 15 minutes.  LOL!!
Empty fireworks casings on our lawn.

Maybe someday we'll be able to celebrate THIS with fireworks.  : )

Many blessings for a wonderful Thursday ~ Wendy
