More of the White Stuff . . .

Note to self: fill bird deer feeder.

Schools are closed today.  My honey is home.  Only Connor (our oldest son) had to leave the house for work this morning.  The rest of us are inside, still in our jammies, enjoying the still falling snow.  I'm going to be catching up on laundry, aka climbing Mount Washmore, and working in my Etsy shops.  We're also keeping an eye on another possible big storm for the beginning of next week.  Snowy months of March seem to be the pattern the last few years other then last year when we had next to no snow all winter.  You get that little tease of spring with the warmer temperatures and the buds on the trees and the heat off and the windows open and then Mother Nature gets PMS and shows us who's boss.  I'll still take this over hazy, hot and humid ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!!  : )

Here's to a beautiful weekend!!  xo

"This Moment" and Stepping Out of My Box . . .

It's faux fur.  I felt the need to type that.  : )

I wish you all a very happy weekend.  Tomorrow I'm doing something that I've never done before.  I'm stepping out of my box and going away overnight by myself.  I'm going to stock up on some reading at Barnes and Noble, maybe rent a movie and definitely order room service.   I miss the sound of silence.  By Sunday at checkout time, my tank will be replenished and I'll be missing my family and fur babies.  And I'll definitely be ready for the return of The Walking Dead on Sunday night!!!  xoxo

{This Moment} on Veteran's Day . . .

At this moment, our beautiful country is in turmoil.  People are losing friends and family members over our election.  There is hatred and violence to be seen every time you turn on the news.  It is beyond words for me to describe how I feel when I look at it and think about it.  To see someone burn an American flag, to me, is as low as a citizen of this country can go.  For today, I will focus on what this day means.  It is a day to honor the men and women who have served and are currently serving to keep our country safe.

My husband served 8 years in the United States Navy and is a veteran of the Gulf War.

My dad served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War and was a Purple Heart recipient.

Today is about gratitude and respect and reflection.  Looking back on how far we've come.  We are not a perfect nation but we are a united nation and need to be once again.

Wishing you love and peace ~ Wendy

Friday Afternoon Goings On . . .

I haven't been taking many photos this week.  Instead I've been busy in my studio working on some gift tags and cards.  I haven't created anything new in a while but I'm getting the itch again.  It's probably part of the "nesting" instinct that kicks in about this time every year when the mornings are cooler and the days start to become noticeably shorter.

I have a huge collection of vintage baby cards that I've collected over the years.  They've been sitting in bins for so long and I wanted to upcycle them into something that puts them out into the world again.  They're just way too beautiful to keep hidden away in bins!!  So I cut them up and turn them into gift tags and greeting cards.  I started selling them at craft fairs and people really liked them.  I do the same with old Christmas cards as well.  I'll share some of those in the not so distant future.  : )

Here's a gift tag made just for twins.

Vintage baby cards are the absolute sweetest, aren't they?  Add some vintage ribbon or trim and some pretty paper and embellishments and voila!!!  : )  If you'd like to see more, you can pay a visit to my Etsy shop that can be found here.  Now I'm off to the grocery store for the second time in as many days.  Have you ever just looked around and become so overwhelmed by all the choices in the market that you just kind of throw your hands up and think tomorrow's another day and head straight for the checkout line?  That's what I did yesterday.  We have family coming for a late summer bbq tonight.  My in-laws are heading back home to Florida soon and we all wanted to get together for one last hurrah.  It's always bittersweet but fun.  Any special plans going on this weekend in your neck of the woods??  : )

Have a beautiful and peaceful and safe weekend my friends ~ Wendy

These {Random} Summer Moments in Georgia . . .

The third leg of our trip was Georgia.  We were there for three nights.  We are huge The Walking Dead fans and it was my dream to go and see where the show was filmed.  All of the photos here were taken in Senoia, Georgia where a good portion of the show is filmed.  I took a ton of photos at the filming locations but I wanted to share some of the random ones that I took.  It was a very hot southern day but we didn't care.  That's coming from a girl who HATES the heat!!!  I was in photography heaven to say the least!!!

Next time . . .

lots of The Walking Dead photos!!!

I hope you all have a great weekend.  We have some friends coming over for a bbq and swimming tomorrow.  I feel like the summer is winding down already.  Next week is the last week of camp for Miss Megan which means it's only three weeks until the start of school after that.  Which means I have to dig out the school supply list.  Which means I have to go thru the huge pile of papers staring at me from the kitchen counter top.  Yuck.

Happy weekend!! ~ Wendy

{These Moments} in North Carolina . . .

It just dawned on me that today is Thursday.  Not Friday!!  I usually save "moments" posts for Friday but I'm too far into this to delete it now and I know I won't have time to post tomorrow because  I'll be driving into Manhattan to take Jakhai home.  Where did this month go????  "Back to School" commercials have been on for the last week or so and Cracker Barrel has Halloween decorations for sale which I find to be such a tease because then I get all excited for fall and you step out of the store and it's 95 degrees and humid out still.  I was so tempted to buy some of them though.  I'll definitely be paying them a visit in the next month or two!!  Couldn't you just go crazy in a Cracker Barrel gift shop??  I'm not so thrilled with their food.  God knows I've tried to be but I'm just not.  Their gift shops are a whole other story all together though!!!  I'm not even sure if they have them in other parts of the country.  We're getting them in dribs and drabs in New York but there's one on almost every corner the further south you go.  Have you ever been to one?

My dryer just finished turning.  On to the next load!!!  : )

So long for now from atop Mt. Washmore!! ~ Wendy
