A Sunday Drive . . .

Well, hello Mama!

Her pretty baby that looks like she was born in the spring.

"Can you move it along??  We're trying to eat here!!"  : )

Urban decay.

We have a sweet little nature center where kids can go to visit and learn all about, well, nature.  : )  This is the first time I noticed this sign.  I'll have to come back earlier in the summer next year.  It looked like most of the flowers had already come and gone for the season.

I had no idea that there were so many wild raspberries growing in our little town.  They were everywhere on this road.  They always remind me of childhood summers when we had several bushes in the backyard of the house I grew up in.

It was a gorgeous day with low humidity and temps in the high 70's.  Rare for this time of year in New York.  The temps are slowly creeping back up again but the humidity is still pretty low and that makes a world of difference.  For me, it's the difference between enjoying being outdoors and wanting to crawl out of my skin when I'm outdoors.  Lol!!  TRUTH!!

I visited Michael's Craft Store the other day and it was filled with fall items and they're even starting to sneak in Christmas stuff.  Like retail, crafters always have to be one or two seasons ahead so I understand the rush.  On the other hand, fall I can handle.  I can always handle fall.  Definitely not yet ready for the hustle and bustle of Christmas.  However, I'm now off to work in my Etsy shops and guess what I'm going to be working on today . . .

Christmas Creativity Kits!!!  Yes, indeed!!!  : )

Stormy Thursday . . .

Our back yard from the dining room window.  There is a pool under all that snow!!

Our bbq grill.

Buddha is under there somewhere.  : )

He laid out there for ten minutes with his face up to the snow.  : )

Keeping a close eye on his brother.

Firewood piled up under the porch and it still got snow on it.

Mailboxes.

My car.

A pile of snow in the neighbors' yard.

Our outdoor lamp.

School was officially closed for today last night.  After sleeping in a little bit, we awoke to a winter wonderland!!  By this afternoon, when it finally stopped, exactly a foot of snow had fallen.  Everything looks so beautiful blanketed in fresh snow.  Brady, our 11 year old chocolate lab, is in his glory!!  He's been in and out at least a half dozen times today,  mostly just to roll around in the snow.  Our cockapoo Sparky, well not so much since it's over his head a bit.  He'd rather keep an eye on Brady from the dining room window.  Those two are like frick and frack for sure!!  The wind is blowing around now and it's about 18 degrees outside.  I'm always filled with so much gratitude on days like this one.  I'm grateful for our warm and cozy home.  I'm grateful for the hot dinner (pasta and meatballs) that I can serve my family.  I'm grateful that all of my kids are safe and sound and here with me.  I'm grateful that my honey can stay with my father in law who lives close to his job if the roads are too slippery to drive home on.  I'm also grateful to be able to sit in front of this.

How's your weather today?  : )

This Moment . . .

These two guys were outside my window.  You can see their antlers are just starting to come in.  I was so sad to leave the wildlife that I had been feeding for fifteen years in our old neighborhood but I have been gifted with cardinals outside my studio window at the bird feeder every day, many more squirrels to feed and a gang of seven or eight deer that visit our neighborhood quite frequently.

I'm not sure I'll be as happy about these guys once the flowers start to bloom and they start to chomp on them but, for now, they make me smile.  : )

Many blessings for a wonderful weekend and for a very happy Mothers' Day to everyone that celebrates on Sunday!!  xoxo

Our New Backyard . . .

This weekend was a definite mixed bag of weather.  We knew that Saturday was going to be the better of the two days so we made the most of it and spent most of the day outdoors.  We have a wonderful new yard that we're enjoying for the first time.  The house listing described the gardens as "mature."  I've come to learn that is just a nicer way to describe garden beds then to call them terribly unkempt.  There is no rhyme or reason as to how things were previously planted.  Thankfully, my mother has a green thumb and has been declared our official gardener.  : )  This is the perfect project for her and things are already starting to look so much better.

A work in progress.

Dogwood.

Lilacs that make everything smell so wonderful!!

Rhododendron.

Azaleas.
