Signs . . .

Today's photo-a-day challenge (found at Fat Mum Slim) is to post a photo of a sign.  When we went to Lancaster, PA in April, I took a couple of photos of signs that caught my eye.

First there was this one . . .

This was a one room school house that Amish children attend in the part of town where we took our buggy ride. 

Next was this one . . .

We were so tempted to have our buggy driver pull over for some homemade root beer!!  I think if it was just a little bit warmer out that day we would've done it!!  : )

I ended up going with this one . . .

You just gotta take a picture of a road called "Smucker Lane,"  don'tcha??

I wasn't sure if this counts as a sign otherwise I might have gone with this one . . .

Now I'm off to peek at what tomorrow's photo is!!  Can you tell I'm loving this Challenge??  : )

a photo a day . . .

Yesterday, I discovered a fantastic blog called Fat Mum Slim .  Chantelle is the blog's author.  For the last couple of months she's hosted a "photoaday" challenge.  Each day, for the month of June, she's listed a topic for a photo for that day.  If you click onto her website you'll see the list of topics for each day and instructions on how to participate. I'll be posting my photos here, on Pinterest and on Flickr where my member name is ctb003. 

I've always wanted to participate in something like this and she has some great topics for the month.  Don't worry that it's already the second day of the month.  I'm just starting today, myself.  You're not being graded on this.  Just have fun with it!!

Cousins . . .

My nephew Jason is the epitome of a little man.  He is absolutely beautiful and so filled with love.  He definitely gives my sister-in-law a run for her money!!  She and I look at each other and laugh constantly when he talks because he's always saying something that cracks us up!!

Monday Morning Meggie . . .

I took so many photos this summer and am just now getting around to editing them. I thought I'd share a few of my favorites of Megan this morning.

My beach baby!! She absolutely loved the sand and the water!!

I loved this shot of her in the pool. Those are water drops, not tears. : ) She actually loved the pool. I swear I could bite those lips and I do!!!

This is probably my favorite shot of the summer. Megan is checking out her belly. I laughed so hard!! I found this bikini in Target at the beginning of the summer and couldn't resist!!

My New Toy . . .

I'm probably the last person in blogland to discover this but I've found Picnik !!! I've been having so much fun playing around on the site!! I've been trying to figure out how to make my photos look better and bigger pretty much since I started blogging a couple of years ago. The more perusing I do in blogland, the more I realize my photos are not up to par and photos are what I love the most about reading other peoples' blogs. Recently, I discovered a wonderful blog that is written by Brenda at Cozy Little House . Every so often, she writes tutorials about how to make your blog look prettier. The other day, she wrote about how to create a collage banner by using Picnik. Between her instructions and photos and Picnik's ability to make things seem so easy to do, I actually was able to create a new banner. I'm so happy with how it came out!! It doesn't look centered on my computer but my husband said it looks centered on his. At this point, I'll keep it the way it is because, knowing my luck, I'd screw up the whole thing entirely. : )

So tonite I was playing around on Picnik with a photo that I took of Megan the other day. It's not one of my best photos but I figured I'd use it as my "guinea pig" photo. I had a blast using all of the different things they have to edit your pics!! The above pic is what I came up with. The below pic is the original photo.

I know my first attempt isn't perfect and the quality of the photo wasn't so great to start out with but, I have to tell you, I'm pretty impressed with myself and can't wait to work on other things!!! YAY me!!!!! : )
