{These Moments} with a New Friend . . .

Megan and Grace.  Instant new best friends!!  Wouldn't this world be a much nicer place if grown ups made friends as easily and unconditionally as children??  : )

Happy Saturday!!  ~ Wendy

In the Garden This Week . . .

This week, we've seen the end of the azalea bushes and the beginnings of the rose bushes.  We've spotted a few different shades of red roses, a few different shades of pink roses and what we believe are going to be yellow roses.  The photo below shows one of our garden beds that is overgrown with lots of greenery but few flowers.  We're going to be home this weekend to work on cleaning much of that out.  I love the greenery but I love colorful flowers even more so we'll be balancing that bed out a bit.

We added a few things this week and took a few things out.  The back yard is starting to really come together.  The pool is still being worked on.  We think the previous owners just stuck the cover on the pool right before we did the walk thru in November and didn't even bother to vacuum the leaves out of it.  Jim had to find a bigger vacuum for the pool  that was able to handle A LOT of leaves.  He's taken seven large vacuum bags of leaves out so far and the deep end is still loaded with them.  Hopefully, this weekend it will finally be ready for swimming!!

We found this little guy swimming on top of the pool cover last week.  We've found three others since.  I don't mind them.  As long as they don't hop into my house I'm fine!!!!  : )

Next, we're going to start working on the vegetable garden.  That will be a joint effort between my son, Connor, and I.  We're starting from scratch so we're going to keep it simple with a few tomato plants, some herbs, eggplant, peppers and I really want to plant string beans.  I have such great childhood memories of growing up next to my grandmother and sneaking into her gigantic garden and picking her string beans.  Pick 'em, wipe 'em on your shirt and pop 'em in your mouth.  Nothing like it!!!  : )

Sunday Sayings . . .

true essence of beauty:

This first weekend in April we have run the gamut with weather.  Friday we were wearing short sleeves. Saturday we were wearing long sleeves. Today we're wearing winter coats.  Brrrr!!!  We even woke up to some spring snow that's still sticking to the tops of bushes and the shady parts of the yard.  We're cozied up inside with the fireplace going and watching The Walking Dead marathon that is leading up to tonight's season finale.  Jim got called in to work due to high winds that were expected for today.  We've had the gas company here twice this weekend due to a strong smell of gas in the house.  We even had to evacuate ourselves and the fur babies for an hour and half yesterday morning while we waited for the fire department and the gas company to okay us to go back in the house.  They determined it's not natural gas so now we have to figure out exactly what it is.  Never a dull moment around these parts, that's for sure!!!

Have a beautiful week ahead ~ Wendy

Easter . . .

Trevor.  I love this pic!!  LOL!!

Playing ball in the backyard with cousins.

Time out while the ball is retrieved from the pool.

The only way I can get a photo of my niece is if I sneak up on her.  14 year old girls.  Ugghh!!

Helping Nana with the traditional bunny cake.

The finished product!!  It was completely gone by noon today!!

That face!!!!!!!

We had a house full of family yesterday including my father in law and brother in law from my first marriage.  I hadn't seen them since Christmas so I was so happy when they said they were able to make it for dinner.  Dinner was delicious (if I do say so myself!! ) and so was dessert.  The rain cleared up and it got warm enough for the kids to play outside without jackets.  In fact, my daughter decided she was going to wear a halter dress for Easter.  I pick my battles.  : )

I hope you had a beautiful Easter if you do indeed celebrate it.  Our first Easter in our new house was wonderful and pretty relaxed (not always the case in our family haha!!).  Today it's grey and was raining until about an hour ago.  Very low key.  Just the way I like it.  : )

Happy Monday ~ Wendy
