Some Saturday Randomness . . .

Sunset thru the trees.

Two turkey vultures in our backyard.

If you look closely you can see how his beak turns downward at the tip.  Very vulture-like!!  : )

Megan up a tree.

Definitely not shy in front of the camera!!  : )

I can't wait for that wiggly front tooth to come out!!!!!!

Lots of cold and grey days here lately.

The kids are off from school for the next week due to spring/Easter break.  Jim has a few days off as well.  Megan had a sleepover here last night with her best little girlfriend from where we used to live.  In a few hours we leave for Manhattan to pick up our "adopted" son Jakhai.  We haven't seen him since Christmas break and are really missing him!!  If you don't already know, we met Jakhai and his family seven years ago thru the Fresh Air Fund which is an organization that matches up inner-city kids with us country folk (haha!!) to get them out of the city for a week in the summer.  We fell in love with him and his parents and the rest of his family and have him stay with us during most long school breaks and for most of the summer.  Brendan and Jakhai call each other "brothers from other mothers."  I have to go thru my photos and post some of how much the boys have grown since they first met each other.  It's really incredible how God works sometimes.  We can't imagine our lives without Jay and his family in them!!

Megan and Cybele yesterday.  They've been friends since they were two.

Brendan and Jakhai in 2013.  These photos make me smile for so many different reasons!!!  : )

Tonight we're going to visit friends that we haven't seen in way too long.  Their son is turning 21 and they're having a party for him.  We're really looking forward to seeing them.  And finally, tomorrow I take my last photography class.  Outdoor photography is the topic so it should be lots of fun.  Any special plans going on for you this weekend?  xo

Friends for Life . . .

On Saturday, my beautiful friend Ophie and her daughter Cybele came to spend the day with Meg and I.  We knew when we moved that there were going to be some people that we wouldn't see very often anymore, if at all.  Then there were the people who had come into our lives that we were not willing to let go of so easily.  Ophie and Cybele are for keeps.  : )

The girls spent the entire day in the pool and catching up on the hammock while Ophie and I drank Diet Dr. Pepper (crack in a can is what I call it!!!) in the shade and talked about what's in the stars for us in the not so distant future.  I'm always so fascinated by the depth of her knowledge and the accuracy of her predictions.  Ophie is an Astrologer and a published author.  She and her sister Tali are also known as The Astrotwins.  Check out the link to their webpage.  It really is some interesting and amazing stuff!!!

While I was writing this blog I decided to look at some old photos of Cybele and Megan to see how much they've changed in the last few years.

I just know they're gonna be friends for life!!!  : )

Under the Weather . . .

My normally happy and full of ants in her pants girl has been home sick this week with a virus that has run thru her class at school.  She's had a fever since early Tuesday morning.  I think she's coming to the end of its run but we're going to keep her home until Monday just in case.  One of her little friends went back too soon and ended up being sick another couple of days.  No "two thumbs up" for her this week!!  : (

We've had clouds and rain since Sunday.  I have to admit it's been kind of nice not having to get out of bed right away to get her to school in the morning and, in all honesty, this is my absolute favorite kind of weather.  We've had the fireplace going still until we ran out of dry wood the other day.  Someone forgot to cover up the wood the last time some was brought in.  All I know is it wasn't me.  : )

I was looking thru some old photos to post since I haven't been taking many these last couple of days.  I came across a bunch that I took of turkey vultures hanging out in a mostly dead tree back in December.  I was going to the bank and I happened to have my camera with me and they were all just up there looking very ominous.  Perfect rainy day photo!!

Another perfect rainy day photo!!  These two girlies from last spring.  An oldie but a goodie!!  : )

My love has been working the last six nights in a row but now has a few days off.  Our anniversary was yesterday.  We're going to go out on a much needed date night tomorrow night.  I'm looking forward to getting out and spending some time alone with him.  We're going to try a restaurant that we've never been to before.  Stepping out of our box a bit.  : )

Happy Thursday!!  ~ Wendy

{ this moment } . . .

{this moment}
A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.
