Under the Weather . . .

My normally happy and full of ants in her pants girl has been home sick this week with a virus that has run thru her class at school.  She's had a fever since early Tuesday morning.  I think she's coming to the end of its run but we're going to keep her home until Monday just in case.  One of her little friends went back too soon and ended up being sick another couple of days.  No "two thumbs up" for her this week!!  : (

We've had clouds and rain since Sunday.  I have to admit it's been kind of nice not having to get out of bed right away to get her to school in the morning and, in all honesty, this is my absolute favorite kind of weather.  We've had the fireplace going still until we ran out of dry wood the other day.  Someone forgot to cover up the wood the last time some was brought in.  All I know is it wasn't me.  : )

I was looking thru some old photos to post since I haven't been taking many these last couple of days.  I came across a bunch that I took of turkey vultures hanging out in a mostly dead tree back in December.  I was going to the bank and I happened to have my camera with me and they were all just up there looking very ominous.  Perfect rainy day photo!!

Another perfect rainy day photo!!  These two girlies from last spring.  An oldie but a goodie!!  : )

My love has been working the last six nights in a row but now has a few days off.  Our anniversary was yesterday.  We're going to go out on a much needed date night tomorrow night.  I'm looking forward to getting out and spending some time alone with him.  We're going to try a restaurant that we've never been to before.  Stepping out of our box a bit.  : )

"Mommy, when is the rain gonna stop?" . . .

The other day, after three days of almost 100 degree heat and humidity, the weather finally broke but not before some much needed rain.  It got so dark at 4:00 in the afternoon that the street light came on.

And then the heavens opened up!!!  This is a view from my front window looking across at my neighbor's house.  That is his porch light on that you can just make out through the sheets of water.

My window box flowers were very happy . . .

but Megan wasn't!!  "Mommy.  No rain! Yucky!"

Brady looking out the front window.

Sparky looking out the front window.

Mr. Bigglesworth looking out the front window.

And, just as the day was getting ready to end, the sun came out . . .

and Megan was happy again!!!

The End.   : )

A Flowery Follow Me Friday . . .

I've been trying to post here all morning and this is the first time I've been able to even type. That little blue swirly thing keeps going around. It looks like it might be better now. I'm crossing my fingers because I love Follow Me Friday and blogger had a site-wide problem the last time I wanted to participate.

I recently went to our local Home Depot to look for a Mother's Day plant for my mom for Mother's Day and they always have lots of pretty hanging ones. It was a beautiful day and I brought along my camera.

Beautiful blue hydrangea. I can't wait until our hydrangea starts to bloom over the next couple of months. It starts off as white and then changes to different shades of pink as the weather gets colder at nite.

I love the color of these below. They would look great in my front window box against the pale yellow of the house.

I'm in love with these fuzzy daisies!!! I'm sure that's not what they're really called but that's exactly what they look like.

Next week, we're going back to make some purchases and, hopefully, the rain will stop long enough to do some planting. We didn't even bother going this past week due to the wet weather pattern we seem to be in lately. I happen to love the rain so my only complaint is that we haven't been able to do any planting yet. We have a family picnic planned to celebrate Megan's birthday on May 28th so we need to have the rain move out and the flowers move in. : )

Have a great weekend, everyone!!

A Surprise Summer Rainstorm . . .

This morning we were treated to a sudden and unexpected summer thunderstorm. It was the kind of storm that is fast and furious and takes the humidity out of the air.

Sparky loved watching the rain come down from his perch in the front window although he ran to me when the thunder scared him. Such a baby!!

There's been lots of heat and humidity so far this summer and not so much rain so this was a much welcomed surprise!!

I took this picture thru the front window. So much for the towels drying over the porch railing!!

Thank you Mother Nature!! Now our bird bath is filled and our flowers are watered. My "TO DO" list just got a little shorter. :)
