Our Trip to Mount Washington . . .

This summer, we visited New Hampshire and took a ride up to the top of Mount Washington.  I've been meaning to share some of our photos but knew it would take me a while to sort and edit them.  Miss Megan is still asleep this morning so I thought I'd give it a go.  : )   Please click on the photos to view them in larger form!!

Our starting point.

It was an absolutely beautiful day!!  The temperature at the top of the mountain was around 37 degrees fahrenheit and winds were sustained at about 40 mph. 

As you got closer to the top, you were eye level with the clouds.  I'm hoping you can click onto the photos to make them bigger. 

This was a trolly car near the top that people could take if they didn't want to drive.  I don't consider myself to be afraid of heights but I have to admit that I had some anxiety as we went higher and higher.  My husband was driving so that I could take pictures.

These are the steps that lead from the parking lot to the peak.  At this point, the wind is pretty strong and walking up these stairs isn't the easiest thing to do.  : )

The Tip-Top House is a lodge that was once used for workers that stayed at the top.  It's no longer used but is still set up the way it once was.  The road to the top shuts down some time around the middle or end of October, depending on the weather conditions.

This was one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen!!

At the summit, there's a building where you can go in and have something warm to eat and drink.  There's even a post office located inside. 

This was taken at the highest point of the mountain.  Left to right are my nephew Tristan, Jakhai (our "adopted" Fresh Air Fund son), Jim holding Megan, and my sons Brendan and Trevor.  I laugh every time I look at this photo due to the "tough guy" looks my sons tried to give for the camera.  LOL!!

This is a gift shop that is actually chained down due to the potential for very large wind gusts.

It was such a wonderful trip and I highly recommend it if you travel to New Hampshire!!

What the Heck Happened to My "Grandpop Rippy's Boat" Post?? . . .

This morning my husband pointed out to me, while at work, he was trying to bring up my blog to show the photo I posted of my father to a co-worker but the whole post was gone.  Sure enough, my post from the other day is no longer here.  Hmmmmm . . .  very strange.  So here is the photo of my Dad again.

My Dad was 59 when he passed away very suddenly.  Someone took this photo of him on his boat and I wanted to share it.  If this is missing again then I know he's got something to do with it!!  : )

*  A postscript to this ~ after I posted this blog entry this morning my sister texted me to tell me that she read the new entry and right after closing my blog page her daughter came into the room and said, "Mommy, I found a dime on the floor.  Do you want it?"  My father has been leaving us dimes since right after he passed.  No doubt, he watches over everything we do!!!  Amazing Grace.  : )

Lots of Photos!!! . . .

Last week, we took a much needed family vacation to New Hampshire.  With Jim's company being on strike for almost a month of the summer, we were looking forward to fun in the sun (well, maybe not me.  I don't like the sun very much, truth be told!!)  and finally getting my Dad's boat back in the water. 

This is where we stayed.  We rented three cottages on Lake Winnipesaukee.  One for Jim, Megan and I.  Another for my sister and her boyfriend and two of their kids.  The third was where all the boys slept. 

Megan and Jakhai (our "adopted" son who was brought into our lives thru the Fresh Air Fund and who is now a semi-permanent member of our family.  I keep trying to talk his mom and dad into letting him live with us all year 'round but for some reason they just won't give in!!  LOL!! )  They're hanging out with Charlie.  That's what the kids named the plastic guy.  : )
