At Last!!! . . .

We had the last of Megan's birthday celebrations this past weekend.  It was a wonderful turnout and the perfect kind of weather with blue skies and low humidity.  We rented a bouncy castle for the kids to jump around in and it was a huge hit with all of them. I was so busy playing hostess that I didn't get any photos of the kids bouncing around but trust me . . .  they had a blast!!!

When they all got tired of bouncing it was onto the sandbox.  Jim made this sandbox when Megan was a baby and I can't tell you how many hours have been spent in that thing!!

We ordered pizzas and the kids all sat on blankets for a "pizza picnic."  I have to say I really love this age.  They don't yet care about what other people think of them and they say whatever is on their mind.  Good or bad!!  : )

Next it was onto watermelon, ice cream sandwiches and cupcakes that I made in between periods of the Rangers game.  (We'll get 'em next year guys!!!)  I had to take a photo of my friend Kelli's youngest son, Desmond.  He's the youngest of five boys!!!  Isn't he the cutest thing???  He reminds me a lot of my oldest son Connor when he was that age.  He has those big "Fred Flintstone" feet like Connor did.  Lol!!!

Desmond loving his ice cream sandwich!!!

Meghan and Megan!!!  These two are like frick and frack!!!

Everyone left dirty and tired and full of pizza, ice cream and cupcakes.  The perfect day if you ask me!!!  : )

This is our last full week of pre-k before Megan graduates next Wednesday.  It's so hard to believe the summer is almost here and even harder to believe that my baby girl will be going to kindergarten in September.  Lots of exciting things to look forward to!!!

Have a beautiful day ~ Wendy

Birthday Wishes and a Sunday Saying . . .

Today our beautiful, sweet, sassy, kind, funny and smart girl turns five.  FIVE!!  So hard to believe!!  She's the cherry on top of our cake that has made our family complete.  I never thought I'd have a fourth child let alone a baby girl.  She has taught me so many life lessons in the five short years since she's been a part of our family.  After three boys, a girl is a whole other Universe!!!

My beautiful Megan Grace.  I love you with all of my heart and soul.  You are truly a gift from above and I honor your presence in my life.  Amazing Grace.

Many blessings for a beautiful Sunday ~ Wendy

A Wet But Wonderful Day!! . . .

Megan's birthday party was a wet and chilly one.  I prayed to the weather Goddesses but I guess they were busy with more important things.  : )   My wonderful husband and son built a tent city in our backyard and we made the most of it.

All of her little friends from daycare came.  The beauty of two and three year olds, give or take, is that they are thrilled with sandboxes and bouncy castles and love to play in water.  So we had the perfect combination for a great party!!

Friends in the sandbox.
Meggie's adorable friend, Robby.  I secretly hope they get married some day.  : )
A soggy Frasier in the sandbox.
Megan with Daddy and her new bff, Cebele.

We also had very layed back parents at her party which was a true blessing because the kids decided to make a beach, complete with sand and water, on our patio . . .

and some of our little party guests REALLY enjoyed playing with the sand.  LOL!!!

Remember her??  Strawberry Shortcake is one of Meggie's favorites.  : )
I think the big kids had as much fun in the bouncy castle as the little ones did!!

When it was time for the birthday cake, everyone gathered around to sing "Happy Birthday" and in true Megan fashion she sang to herself.  Louder than anyone else!!

A very happy little three year old!!
After cake, all of our cold and wet and HAPPY guests left and we went inside to warm up, dry off and open presents with my family that had wimped out and stayed in the house all day. This actually worked out well because my mother and sister took control of the kitchen and the food and I was able to sit and talk with our guests for a change.  You know how it is when you throw a party.  You rarely get a chance to even sit down!!

Megan's new Strawberry Shortcake party dress.  Thank you to my friend Saskia and her son Malcolm!!  She ADORES it!!

In spite of the weather, it was a beautiful day filled with friends and family and wonderful new memories.  Now, if I could just wrap my head around the fact that my baby girl is three!!!!!!  : )

Seventeen Candles . . .

It's been a pretty quiet week around here which is why I haven't blogged much. November is the month that my first husband passed away. Tomorrow it will be five years. I can't believe it. It seems like just yesterday but, at the same time, a whole other life time ago. My father's anniversary was on Monday. It's been four years for him and I swear I could cry at the drop of a hat still when I think about it. We buried him on my husband's one year anniversary. In between those two sad days there is a wonderful day, though.

Our oldest son turned seventeen on Tuesday. I drove him to school on his birthday so he could sleep in a little bit. I looked at him in the car and told him that I'm too young to have a seventeen year old. Do you know what his response was? Are you ready for this one? Without missing a beat, he replied, "yeah and you're too old to have a baby." Needless to say, the melancholy feelings went right out the window and I punched him. : )

Ahhhh, the joys of Motherhood. And to think I'm gonna start all over again!!!!! : )

(My first baby. Isn't he handsome?!!?)

Many blessings ~ Wendy
