There's a New Six Year Old in the House!! . . .

Waiting for the crowd to arrive with brother number three.

Our sweet and sassy baby girl turns six today!!  WHAAAAT??? We've been counting down the days since we turned our Walking Dead calendar to the month of May!!  It's been a loooooong 17 days!!!  : )  Megan said she wanted a rainbow themed bowling party so that is what she got on Saturday.  After all, it's not every day that a girl turns six you know!!

Wouldn't you love to know what these girlies were giggling about??  LOL!!  I love that Megan's friend Genevieve came to the bowling party in her Halloween costume!!  These new friends of Megan's are such a sweet bunch.  I'm so happy that she's fitting right in with them.  : )

These kids are adorable!!  Megan has been so lucky to have such a great bunch of kids in her kindergarten class.  The parents are all  friendly too.  It was nice to be able to get to know some of them better at the party.

Of course Megan's bff Cybele came and fit right in with everyone.  We hadn't seen Cybele and her mom/my friend Ophie in a couple of months.  It's just so crazy how quickly the time goes.

Trevor came for some bowling and pizza.  The boys were all very impressed that Megan had two big brothers at her party.  Brother number one is currently vacationing in Mexico.  Tough life, huh??

My love.

Meg's friend Colin getting the shake down.  I laugh every time I look at this!!!

All I can say is these kids are a bunch of characters.  Just look at those faces!!  Tonight we're going to our local diner with family as per Megan's request.  She's in love with one of the waitresses there and can't wait to tell her it's her birthday.  Thursday night we head down the mountain to have dinner with my father in law and Uncle Tom (my brother in law from my first marriage).  They've been in Ireland for the last two weeks and come home tomorrow.  The celebrating will continue throughout the week.  Such a lucky little girl to have so many people that love her.  She truly is our gift from above.  : )

This Moment . . .

{this moment} ~ A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

Winter in New York and a Birthday . . .

My men are thrilled that we're finally having a snowy winter here in New York because it means they can finally go snowboarding!! Jim took our two youngest guys and a couple of their friends for a day of fun in the snow. There are several ski resorts in our area so they only had to travel about half an hour to get to their destination.

Making sure Brendan's helmet fits properly.

The living room had boots and snowboards and helmets and gloves everywhere!!

While the boys were playing in the snow, Meggie and I stayed in our jammies all day!!

I also celebrated a birthday this week. I'm forty four and have been feeling very reflective about this. I can't believe how quickly the years are coming and going. I'm not one to get upset about getting older. As a matter of fact, I believe that women improve with age. My forties have been wonderful. I've met and married my best friend after having lost so many loved ones in my thirties. I've had my daughter who truly is a blessing from God. I've seen my first baby turn eighteen and start applying to colleges. I've seen my second baby start to grow into an incredibly loving and witty young man. I've seen my third baby grow into a boy filled with such wisdom that he constantly has me shaking my head with awe. I've seen my sister continuously amaze us with her recovery from a very bad diagnosis with cancer. One. Day. At. A. Time. As for me, I am blessed beyond belief. I have such pride for my family. I'm also trying to learn how to take better care of myself. I want to be here for all of the grandchildren that we'll be blessed with some day, God willing.
I find this so difficult to do. Why is that? I would love to hear some words of wisdom from anyone that would like to share some.

My husband baked a tray of chocolate cupcakes and spelled out "Happy Birthday" on the top of them. There's nothing sexier than a man who bakes for you!! : )

My Baby is Eight . . .

There was another birthday in our house this week. Son number three turned eight yesterday. Hubby had to work yesterday so we celebrated his special day on Thursday. Four friends came home with Brendan after school. Four elementary age boys with lots of energy that needed to be expelled after a day of being stuck in a classroom. Need I say more? :)

Jim walked down and picked them all up after school while I rushed to tie some balloons around and make up goodie cups that we had just purchased a few minutes before. I'm a "fly by the seat of my pants" kind of gal. Can you tell?!!? It all works out in the end and that's what matters.

When everyone arrived, I gave them a few minutes to unwind and that turned into a giant pillow fight in the upstairs hallway. Of course, son number two was more than happy to join in and antagonize the rest of the kids. It was too cold for them to go outside and we have a pretty small cottage but they had loads of fun.

Next came homework and reading. I promised the parents that all the kids would get their homework done since they wouldn't be home until after 8 pm. That went a lot more smoothly then I thought it was going to.

After homework it was time for pizza and cupcakes and to sing to the birthday boy.

Brendan and his buddy, Billy.

As you can see, the cupcakes were a hit. Although I think more ended up on faces then in bellies!!

Trevor being Trevor. : )

BFF's Brendan and Tyler.

After cupcakes, Jim took the boys to the movies to see Planet 51. I cleaned up and plopped on the recliner which seems to be my favorite place to be at the end of the day. The boys all said they had a great time and Brendan was happy. My husband is an absolute angel for not minding that I didn't go to the movies with them. I love you, Honey!!

Happy 8th Birthday, Brendan. I love you with all of my heart!! XOXOXOXO

Everything's Coming Up Daisies . . .

I bought the prettiest little mum plant in the grocery store last week. Technically, it's a mum plant but the flowers look just like little daisies.

Daisies are my absolute favorite flower. They are so simple yet so pretty.

For my wedding last year, we rented a large room above a restaurant. It was a plain room but we were free to decorate it however we pleased. Needless to say, the room was filled with daisies!! I didn't have my digital camera at the time so I don't have any pictures to share but I do have lots of other daisy pictures that I just adore!! I hope they help make your day a happy one!!

What a gorgeous place setting!!

This would certainly make a rainy day much brighter for me!!

I'm thinking that these are just way too pretty to eat!!

Well, maybe just a little nibble . . . : )

Simply perfect.

How about some daisy linens? I don't think I would ever leave my bedroom!!

Please, Please Don't Eat the Daisies!!

Daisies and blue glass make the perfect combination!!

How about a vintage daisy sampler . . .

or a vintage daisy dress?

I hope I've left you feeling just a little bit happier than before you visited and I hope your day . . .

is filled with daisies!!
