A Very Good Day . . .

It's been rainy and grey and quite cool here in New York these last few days.  Those of you who know me know that this is my favorite kind of weather.  I may have mentioned in one (or five) previous posts that I believe I must've lived in England or Ireland in at least one of my past lives! : )  I've always been drawn to all things European, especially those two countries.  I visited Ireland years ago but haven't been to England yet.  For now, I'll dream as I look out my window at the grey skies and threatening rain clouds.  Also, when I check in with my favorite bloggers who lately seem to all live across the pond.  : )

Do you see the heart?  : )

There was a break in the weather on Saturday, though.  Megan played her last lacrosse game of the season.  She has her season ending pizza party tomorrow at 5:00 with her team.  That reminds me that I have to pick up juice boxes.  : )

A little in-between-games snack.

My honey on the sidelines.

That's a wrap!!!

After the games ended (they played five 20 minute games all together) we headed home.  I'm not familiar with the area and ended up taking  a different route then before.

Then this happened . . .

Are they . .??  No, they can't be!!!  YES THEY ARE!!!! . . .

CAMELS!!!  And lots of them!!!  Well, that's a first for me!!!  LOL!!

This guy was in a field by himself on the other side of the road.  He was probably the trouble maker of the group and needed a little time out.  He definitely wasn't camera shy either!!

Closer to home, we couldn't go by this little roadside stand without stopping and grabbing some ice cream.  It's never a bad time for ice cream in our world!!

All in all, it was a wonderful day.  Blue skies, lacrosse, camels and ice cream.  Not too shabby!!  : )

Happy Tuesday!! ~ Wendy  xo

Lacrosse at West Point . . .

Megan and her friend Grace.

A couple of Saturdays ago, we packed up Megan's lacrosse gear and our rain gear and headed to West Point for Megan's first official lacrosse game.  If you're not familiar with West Point you can visit here and read all about it.   It's only about a fifteen minute drive from our house thankfully because we had to be there by 8:15 am.  Megan was very nervous that morning and even said she didn't want to go but once she saw her team mates and how excited they all were she was fine.  Honestly, it's just as much about hanging out with your friends as it is about playing lacrosse at that age, isn't it?  : )

The weather forecast said it was supposed to clear up later on in the morning but, unfortunately, it never did.  Is it me or does it seem like predicting the weather has gotten worse instead of better??  : (

The grounds of West Point are beautiful and huge.  I haven't driven around there in many years.  Not since I used to go to the semi-formal dances they held when I was in high school.  A bunch of girlfriends and I would dress up and drive there and mingle with the cadets.  I met some really nice "southern" boys that way.  There's something about a man in a uniform!!  : )  Lots of fun.  I'm not sure if they still have the dances anymore.  They're much more strict now about getting onto the grounds of West Point.

A covered foot bridge.

I walked across that bridge on my way back up the hill after the games were over.  This is what the interior of the bridge looks like.

An old fort with a cannon.

A few cadets (soldiers in training) on their morning hike.

The sun trying to come out.

After Megan was finished with her games, we walked back up to the parking lot where there were tents set up for a big tailgate party.  Everyone brought something to contribute and it ended up being a really great spread.  Unfortunately, the rain picked up though and we decided we weren't going to stay and watch the West Point girls' lacrosse team play like was originally planned.

Eating under the tent.

Megan's adorable team and her coaches.

So now it's time for me to start checking off some of the things on my mile long TO DO list for our trip.  I had my hair colored and cut this morning so that's out of the way.  I honestly can't stand all of the money that you have to spend to go away.  I have to go out and buy travel size toiletries because you're not allowed to have more than 3 ounces of any liquid for safety reasons when you're flying.  You know what else bothers me??  The airlines started charging for your luggage to help make up for the huge increase in the cost of fuel years ago when the price of oil went thru the roof.  The price of oil came down but the extra charges are still in place for lots of different things.  With all of the problems our airlines have been having lately you would think they'd be a little more competitive with each other and offer more freebies again.  I just don't get it.  Okay . . .  rant over!!  : )

I'm looking forward to taking lots of photos in Tennessee and sharing them when we get back.  Have a great week everybody!!  xo

Spriiiing . . .

. . .  come out, come out, wherever you are!!!  Holy macaroni it's cold here today!!!  Megan and I had to be out of the house at 11:15 this morning and it was still in the 30's here in New York.  She had a  lacrosse event to attend a town over from us at a college called Mt. Saint Mary.  It was a benefit game to raise money for childhood brain cancer.  The ladies of the college team were paired up with the girls on Megan's team and they did a little pre-game ceremony where the girls got to hear their name called over the loud speaker and had a little scrimmage game at half-time.

Taking a photo with the ladies.

Megan paired up with her Mt. St. Mary player.

Running thru the tunnel of players before the game when they were saying her name over the loud speaker.

As soon as we got out of the car, you could feel the wind coming up off of the Hudson River.  There are no tall buildings to block it and it was a good 15 degrees colder than when we left the house.   After the introduction of the girls and the singing of the National Anthem,  we made a bee line for the school to keep warm since Megan's team wasn't going on the field again until half time.  There was a great view of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge from where we were warming up.

We braved the cold again at half time.  Thankfully, the wind had died down a bit and we were having too much fun watching the girls play against each other to think about anything else.

Celebrating with her team and coaches after the scrimmage.

Every girl got a lacrosse ball as a souvenir after the game was over.

Team photo before it was time to go home.

Funny team photo before it was time to go home.  : )

I asked Megan how she felt playing on the field.  She told me she had so much fun that she forgot how cold she was.  She also told me she doesn't only love lacrosse.  She "adores" lacrosse.  I think her face above says it all.  : )

Tomorrow I take the first day of my two day photography class.  It's a long day that goes from 10 until 5.  I'm really looking forward to it and looking forward to shooting on "manual" a little more often!!

Happy rest of your weekend!!  xo
