The Final Countdown . . .

Today we had our last official pre-baby delivery doctor's visit. I'm happy to say that all is well. My blood pressure is up just a little bit but that's to be expected at almost 39 weeks pregnant. The doctor wasn't concerned and told us that we don't need to see them again until our scheduled c-section on Monday morning. My water broke three days before my scheduled section with the last baby so anything is possible.

So we're tying up some loose ends around here such as finishing up packing my suitcase, washing some last minute baby things in Dreft (I LOVE the smell of that stuff!!!), trying to get to the bottom of the regular laundry pile, making a list of people to contact when Baby V gets here and several other things. I still had a bunch of things left on my TO DO list when my water broke early the last time and we made it thru okay so I'm not worried.

My Honey has to work Friday and Saturday nite and then he's off for 11 days which works out perfectly. I don't think our room is going to be ready in time for the baby's homecoming but, as long as the paint doesn't smell anymore, I'll still be a happy girl.

Brendan and his friend, Tommy, after making their Communion. I just love this pic!!

Jim swears he'll have it done before we get home from the hospital. Knowing him, he'll come home after being with us all day at the hospital, get the boys situated and then work until the wee hours just so his two girls have a pretty room to come home to. That's my man!!!

I hope you like the pictures I've posted throughout. These are a few more of Brendan's Communion and some from Mother's Day. I look forward to posting new baby pics real soon!! : )

The Good, The Bad and the Artist . . .

It's already been quite a week already and it's only Wednesday!! We started Monday off in the local hospital hooked up to an IV for several hours. I've been unable to keep food or liquids down and it finally caught up with me. My baby doctor was concerned and sent me to the Labor & Delivery unit to have the baby monitored and for some rehydration. I'm happy to say that the baby is doing beautifully and, thankfully, I've been feeling better since yesterday and haven't been sick to my stomach at all. I've been drinking lots of fluids and chewing lots of ice (I know my mother is cringing at the thought of ice chewing right now!! ) and last nite I even ran as fast as an almost 9-month pregnant woman can run to the bathroom at 3 am. That's a sure sign that things are getting better. Thank you, God. I don't know that I've ever been so thirsty in my life as I've been the last couple of days. Apple juice on lots of rocks has been my fave yesterday and today.

My father in law stopped by yesterday. Other then having a cold, he looks and feels much better. He ended up having a mild heart attack last week and had two stents put in his heart. I think that brings the number of stents in his body up to about eleven or twelve, if not more. He still needs to have some surgery on his leg due to numbness from the stents he had put in it a couple of months ago but he's going to wait until the summer for that. He plans on going home to Ireland for several weeks before that surgery so he's well rested and has a good recovery. With all that man has been thru he still has his wit about him. The day he loses that will be the day he just lays down and gives up. Fortunately, I don't see that happening any time soon.

And now, I'd like to introduce to you our budding artist in the family . . .

Brendan's art work was chosen to be a part of an exhibit that spotlighted some wonderful young artists in his elementary school. He was SO excited!! We received a letter in the mail informing us of a reception that was being held for all of the chosen artists but none of them knew which one of their pieces was selected. I thought that was a great idea as it kept them all in suspense for a few days. : )

Much to Brendan's delight, his best buddy, Ty, was at the reception too. His sister had a beautiful piece that was picked for the exhibit.
The bottom drawing is Brendan's. He told us that the theme was an optical illusion. Way to go, B!!!!!

So it looks like the week is getting better with each passing day. I hope yours is too. : )

I Couldn't Stay Away Any Longer . . .

My sister in law told me last nite that I haven't blogged since right after Valentine's Day. This is the first time I've even visited my blog in weeks. I used to be obsessed with seeing how many visitors I had every day. My mind has been preoccupied this last month. So much has happened . . .

My mother in law passed away on March 2nd. It was a blessing. I went to see her in the nursing home the week before she passed and all I could do was hold her hand the whole time I was there. She slept most of the time and was only able to say a few words to me. Her funeral was beautiful and I know that she was at peace being with her son who was my first husband. A part of her died when her son died. How could it not. My father in law and brother in law are doing well. My brother in law is mentally retarded and lives in a group home about a mile from my house. It was the best thing they ever could've done for him. He's flourished since moving there four years ago. When he was a young boy my in-laws were told he wouldn't live past the age of seven or eight. He'll be 39 in May. How ironic that he is still here but his brother and mother aren't. You just never know, do you?

I'm now in my eighth month of pregnancy and am doing really well. I've only gained four lbs. which definitely makes a difference. I have more than a few extra lbs. on my body to begin with so the doctors are pleased. My c-section is scheduled for May 17th at 8 am. My youngest son, Brendan, came a few days before my scheduled section so there's a chance that could happen again. We've been told we're having a girl but I don't think I'll totally believe it until I see her in person. After three boys, that's definitely hard to fathom. Hopefully, the sonogram techs are correct because we have no idea what we would name a baby boy at this point. We've decided on Megan Grace for a girl. I've always loved the name Megan and my husband loves it, too.

We've had several 3-D sonos and I thought it would be fun to share the pics. It may take a minute to see what it is you're looking at but, once you figure it out, it is quite amazing compared to your regular sonograms.

She almost has it . . .

Good job, Miss Meggie !!

I told you they were much better than your regular old sono pics !!

Lots of Pictures . . .

As promised, here are the photos from our visit to the Botanical Gardens Train Show. Please keep in mind that all of these structures are made with materials that were supplied solely by Mother Nature. What a gal that Mother Nature is!! : )

We are having very high winds here today and my computer went down twice while I was trying to load the pictures. I wanted to add some witty little comments but I would've been beside myself if I lost this entry so you'll have to go without my wit today. : )

On a completely different note, we go for our BIG sonogram today. I'm almost 20 weeks pregnant so we should be able to find out what we're having. I've taken one of those "pee" tests from the drug store and we had a 3D sono a couple of weeks ago and they both said that we were having a girl. We think, if Baby V cooperates today, it will be the determining factor. No matter what, pink or blue, we are over the moon. We have three sons so I have to admit that the prospect of a little girl is just a little bit exciting to me. I will certainly keep you all posted. : )
